Belmadur

Belmadur is a wood modification technology where the characteristics of the wood are noticeably improved.  It involves vacuum impregnated chemical treatment that improves timber performance – mainly fungal, termite and dimensional stability.  The resulting timber product is currently targeted at mainly timber window usage.

Benefits

Very good durability; the modified wood does not represent a food source for fungi and insects; significantly reduced swelling and shrinking; improved surface quality and increased coating adhesion; PEFC and FSC certification possible.

Limitations

Cost may be expensive.

Comments

VOC effects on indoor air quality are unclear; effectiveness against Australian termites is also currently unclear.
